Worked example: how the calculation works

The calculator subtracts year, month and day separately. When the day or month goes negative, it borrows from the previous month or year, using the real length of that month.

Start: 12 August 2001     End: 5 November 2026

Years : 2026 - 2001 = 25
Months: 11 - 8      = 3
Days  : 5 - 12      = -7  → borrow one month (October has 31 days)
Months: 3 - 1       = 2
Days  : -7 + 31     = 24

Result: 25 years, 2 months, 24 days
